Kajima Properties Europe (KPE) has successfully completed the significant expansion of its Student Depot residence in Poznań, Poland. The project adds 405 new beds, transforming the existing 466-bed building into two interlinked blocks with a total of 871 beds, making it the largest asset in Student Depot’s operational portfolio.

This milestone marks Student Depot’s first-ever extension of a fully occupied building, demonstrating its ability to deliver complex projects while maintaining uninterrupted service for existing residents. The development was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget, and exceeded its target occupancy, opening at over 93% for the start of the academic year.

The extension introduces a wider variety of room types and price points, giving students in Poznań greater flexibility and choice. Upgrades to the existing building include thoughtfully designed common areas that support both academic and social life, such as:

  • Dedicated study zones
  • Fitness facilities
  • Cinema and gaming rooms

The building’s façade was renovated and thermally insulated to improve energy efficiency, aligning with Kajima’s commitment to sustainable development. Each Student Depot residence is professionally managed in-house, offering:

  • 24/7 staffing
  • Controlled entry and CCTV monitoring
  • On-site management for a safe and supportive living environment

Poznań was Student Depot’s first asset, acquired in 2014. Since Kajima’s initial investment in 2019, Student Depot has grown into Poland’s largest purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) platform, operating over 4,500 beds across nine cities, including Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, Łódź, Lublin and Poznań. The platform also has a secured pipeline of more than 1,000 additional beds.

Demand for modern PBSA in Poland remains strong. According to Savills, Poland has more than 1.2 million students, yet only 1.5% can access modern private dormitories, highlighting a significant supply gap and growth opportunity.

Jan Trybulski, Head of Poland at Kajima Properties Europe, said: “Delivering such a complex project on time, within budget, and exceeding our targeted occupancy level is a testament to the team’s capability and commitment. Our strategy focuses on investing in high-quality, well-located residences across undersupplied academic cities, and we see significant opportunity to continue expanding across Poland’s major university hubs.”
